About Us

Jesterz Embroidery was established in 1989, in a small commercial unit in Torwood Street, Torquay.

In 2004, the current owners, Miss Sarah Richards and Mr Daryl Butt, bought the business.  Within very little time it was realized that the business needed modernizing substantially, as the existing machinery and lack of computer aided design was not able to keep up with the requirements of a 21st century embroiderers.

Space being at a premium it was decided that the business needed to move to larger premises.  This was achieved by striking a partnership with “Bitz” gift shop in Victoria Street, Paignton to lease the rear portion of the store.  With the added space it was possible to sell the original twin headed Barudan embroidery machine and buy a new quad headed state of the art machine, also a Barudan.  This also signalled a change in the way embroideries are designed with the introduction of a computer to allow greater flexibility and quality of the finished embroidery.

It was also decided that the business needed to expand its available product range, to accommodate the needs of stag/hen parties and more “fun” wear.  To this end a high spec vinyl cutter was purchased accompanied by technology to print by “sublimation” allowing a more flexible methods of achieving the customer’s requirements.

By June 2006, Jesterz had once again outgrown its available space, time to move once more.   New premises were found on Torbay Road, Paignton.  Being our biggest store to date it was decided advantageous to continue to run a gift shop, with our embroidery and print shop section occupying the rear of the store.  At this time we also invested in a new single headed Barudan machine, complimenting the quad head machine and allowing faster lead-in times for short run orders.

From humble beginnings, we have expanded our product range to include embroidery, a large range of sublimation printed products and vinyl printed garments for all occasions.  Our customer base has grown from small local businesses and the general public, to include high profile clients such as Nestle, Merrydown, Pepsi and Marks and Spencers. 

Such prestigious clients, and our friendly “can do” attitude have helped to sustain our reputation as Devon’s Premier embroiderers.
